The story takes place at Advanced Nurturing High School, a leading prestigious school with state-of-the-art facilities where nearly 100% of students go on to university or find employment. The students there have the freedom to wear any hairstyle and bring any personal effects they desire. The said high school is a paradise-like school, but the truth is that only the most superior of students receive favourable treatment. The protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokōji is a student of D-Class, which is where the school dumps its “inferior” students in order to ridicule them. For a certain reason, Kiyotaka was “careless” on his entrance examination, and was put in D-class. After meeting Suzune Horikita and Kikyō Kushida, two other students in his class, Kiyotaka’s situation began to change. Note:- Even though Volume 0 is the prequel of this series, it is advised to read till Year 2 Volume 8 beforehand to avoid getting spoiled (which is precisely the reason why it was released after Y2 V8). "Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e," or "Classroom of the Elite," has been a wild ride, and after diving into it, I can see why it's so popular, but also where some readers might get turned off. It's a series that definitely has its strengths, but it's not without its quirks.

The premise is intriguing: a school where students compete fiercely, using points earned through academic and extracurricular achievements to "buy" their way to a better life. Our protagonist, Ayanokouji, starts in the lowest class, and it seems like the goal is to rise through the ranks. But right away, there's a sense that something is off, that Ayanokouji is not who he appears to be.

Many find the mind games and psychological battles between the classes incredibly engaging. The author does a good job of creating tension and making you wonder what's going to happen next.
