Fugitive Poison User ~I Am Somehow Recovering in a World Full of Miasma~ Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on Fugitive Poison User I Am Somehow Recovering in a World Full of Miasma
I dove into "Fugitive Poison User" with a healthy dose of curiosity, and I came out the other side with a generally positive impression. It's not a groundbreaking masterpiece, but it's a solid isekai story that knows what it wants to be and, for the most part, delivers.
First Impressions
The premise definitely grabbed my attention: a software engineer, seemingly ripped from a stressful work environment, gets transported to a world brimming with miasma and ends up with a poison-based skillset and a dragon sealed inside him. It's quirky, and I was eager to see how it would play out. The early chapters did a good job of setting the scene and introducing the main characters.
What Works Well
I really enjoyed the dynamic between the protagonist and the dragon. Their interactions are a consistent source of humor and provide a good foundation for the story. The protagonist himself is a breath of fresh air. He's not overly reckless or ridiculously overpowered, which makes him relatable and his struggles more believable. I also appreciated the unique party composition. A poison user, a disaster-class skill wielder, a dragon, and a hatchet-wielding mushroom? Sign me up! It's this kind of creative and unexpected element that really makes the story stand out.
Areas of Concern
While I overall enjoyed the story, I can see where some readers might find fault. The pacing can be slow at times, and there were moments where I felt like the story was dragging its feet. Also, the ending, while providing a resolution, felt a bit rushed. It's as if the author had a clear destination in mind but took a shortcut to get there. The world-building is also somewhat limited, focusing primarily on what's necessary for the immediate plot.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "Fugitive Poison User" is a worthwhile read, especially if you're looking for a complete and relatively short isekai story. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and it offers a refreshing take on the genre. I'd recommend it as a good, quick read that's better than many other isekai protagonists. I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
