Description

First Impressions
When I first dove into "Clearing an Isekai With the Zero-Believers Goddess," I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It seemed like another run-of-the-mill isekai, but I was hoping for something a bit different. The premise of a weak protagonist trying to survive in a dangerous world alongside classmates definitely piqued my interest, and I went in with cautious optimism.
What Works Well
There's a lot to appreciate about this series. I found the world-building to be quite engaging, and the author does a solid job of creating a believable fantasy setting. I also appreciated that the main character, Makoto, isn't immediately overpowered. He has to work hard for his strength, and his abilities often come with specific conditions and limitations. This makes his victories feel earned and keeps things interesting. I also really liked that the side characters felt fleshed out and realistic; they weren't just cardboard cutouts existing solely to prop up the MC. The plot kept me engaged, and I always wanted to know what was going to happen next.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed many aspects of the novel, there were a few things that held it back from being a true standout. The biggest issue for me was the romance, or rather, the lack thereof. It seems like the author struggles to develop the relationships between Makoto and his harem in a satisfying way. Also, while I appreciated the MC's diligence, his denseness when it comes to the affections of the women around him could be frustrating.
