It's a premise that really grabbed my attention, and I was eager to see how it would play out.

What Works Well

I particularly enjoyed the character development, especially Chen Mo's journey. He's not a Mary Sue, but a flawed individual grappling with past trauma. His decision to prioritize his own well-being and build genuine connections resonated with me. The romance with Xi Siyan is a slow burn, and I appreciated how their relationship progressed naturally. They support each other, and their interactions feel genuine. I also liked that the leads were very understanding of their own emotions, willing to think and work through it and there wasn't much miscommunication/slow burn. The author does a great job of portraying the complexities of human relationships and how childhood experiences can shape a person's life. The friendship aspect of the novel is also really well done.

Areas of Concern

While the overall story is compelling, I did find some aspects could be improved. Several readers mentioned the translation quality, with some suspecting MTL (Machine Translation).
