Though Young People Recoil From Entering the Black Magic Industry, I Found Its Treatment of Employees Quite Good When I Entered It, and the President and Familiar Are Cute Too So Everything Is Awesome! Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on Though Young People Recoil From Entering the Black Magic Industry, I Found Its Treatment of Employees Quite Good When I Entered It, and the President and Familiar Are Cute Too So Everything Is Awesome!
I'll admit, the title alone piqued my curiosity. It's quite a mouthful, but it promises a unique premise. After diving in, I can see why this novel has garnered some attention. It's definitely a bit different from the usual fare.
First Impressions
My initial impression was a mix of amusement and intrigue. The concept of a black magic industry with good employee treatment is inherently funny and sets the stage for some potentially great comedic moments. The promise of cute characters, especially the president and familiar, added to the appeal.
What Works Well
The blend of genres is surprisingly effective. The story manages to balance adventure, comedy, and even some mature elements without feeling disjointed. The protagonist is charismatic, and his growth throughout the story is engaging. I particularly enjoyed how the fan service felt integrated into the plot rather than being the sole focus. It's a welcome change from stories that prioritize it above all else. The world-building is also decent, especially the incorporation of elemental magic and demons. I also really enjoyed reading the manga, which is great!
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the story overall, I can see how the mature themes and ecchi elements might not appeal to all readers. It's definitely a novel that knows its target audience and caters to it specifically. Also, if you're not a fan of harems, this might not be the story for you, as that element is definitely present.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Though Young People Recoil From Entering the Black Magic Industry..." is a fun and engaging read. It's not perfect, but its unique premise, charismatic protagonist, and well-balanced blend of genres make it worth checking out. If you're looking for something a little different with a touch of humor, adventure, and mature themes, give this one a try. I'd say it's a solid 3.7/5 stars.
