The Tale of a Girl Abandoned by her Companion and Dropped to the Bottom of the Abyss to Meet the 《King of Demons》 Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on The Tale of a Girl Abandoned by her Companion and Dropped to the Bottom of the Abyss to Meet the 《King of Demons》
Okay, so I just finished reading "The Tale of a Girl Abandoned..." (phew, that's a mouthful!), and I have some thoughts. This story definitely left an impression, though not entirely a positive one. It’s a dark fantasy ride with some intriguing elements, but the ending felt... abrupt.
First Impressions
The premise is undeniably captivating. A weak healer, betrayed and cast into an abyss, only to find power and solace in the arms (or claws?) of a Demon King? Sign me up! The initial chapters do a great job of setting the stage for a tale of revenge and self-discovery. The depiction of the protagonist's vulnerability and her reliance on the hero creates a strong emotional foundation for her eventual downfall.
What Works Well
The sense of betrayal is palpable. The author really nails the emotional impact of the protagonist's abandonment. I found myself genuinely feeling her despair and anger. The initial world-building is also quite effective, painting a grim picture of a world where heroes aren't always heroic and darkness lurks beneath the surface. The idea of a "weak" character finding strength in an unexpected place is a classic trope, but the story executes it with a compelling twist by involving a Demon King.
Areas of Concern
The biggest issue for me, and I think for many other readers, is the ending. It feels incredibly rushed and unsatisfying. Just as the protagonist begins to embrace her newfound power, the story simply... stops. I was left with so many unanswered questions and a lingering sense of incompleteness. I really wanted to see more of her journey and how she confronts those who wronged her.

Final Verdict
"The Tale of a Girl Abandoned..." is a story with a lot of potential that, unfortunately, falls short of its promise. The intriguing premise and emotional depth are undeniable, but the rushed and unsatisfying ending leaves a sour taste. I'd recommend it with caution, knowing that you might be left wanting more. If you enjoy dark fantasy with a focus on betrayal and a morally ambiguous protagonist, it might be worth a read, but be prepared for a potentially frustrating conclusion.
