First Impressions
My initial reaction was intrigue. The premise is strong, setting the stage for a classic wronged hero narrative. I was ready for a dark descent, a journey of vengeance, and maybe even a little bit of satisfying "face-slapping." The opening chapters did a good job of establishing the protagonist's initial trust and the shocking betrayal that followed.
What Works Well
The dynamic between the MC and the fox spirit is surprisingly heartwarming. The fox adds a touch of levity and acts as a much-needed guide for our protagonist.
