I found the premise intriguing: a descendant of a Hell ruler turns Hell into a VRMMO game, pulling in players from Earth to do his bidding. It definitely scratches that "summoning earthlings to another world" itch, but with a quirky twist.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the idea of the story being told from the players' perspectives. It's fun to get glimpses of the bigger picture through their eyes and see how they interact with the game world. The humor landed well for me, and I appreciated the colorful cast of players and their forum antics. However, as I delved deeper, some cracks began to show.
What Works Well
The "game" aspect is undeniably appealing. I enjoyed the initial world-building and the creative ways the MC manipulated the players. The idea of using players to conquer kingdoms and achieve the MC's goals, rather than just grinding dungeons, felt fresh. The story has a solid plot, and things don't happen without reason. The foreshadowing is excellent, with mysteries set up early in the story that pay off hundreds of chapters later.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the MC's involvement – or lack thereof – became a sticking point for me. He often felt like a passive observer, relying heavily on his loli helper, Bei Li. This made him seem less like a protagonist and more like a prop. The power dynamics between them were also unclear, with the MC taking credit for ideas that originated from her. I also felt the translation quality took a nosedive around chapter 400, making it a struggle to follow the story.
