My Thoughts on Story About Buying My Classmate Once A Week
"Story About Buying My Classmate Once A Week" is a web novel that definitely grabbed my attention with its unusual premise. Overall, I found it to be a compelling, character-driven story, though not without its quirks.
First Impressions
Okay, the synopsis is a little... out there. I'll admit, the initial concept of "buying" a classmate raised some eyebrows. However, I was quickly drawn in by the promise of angst and slow-burn romance. It felt like a story that would dive deep into the complexities of human connection, and I wasn't disappointed. The first few chapters definitely set a strange tone, but it's a tone that intrigued me enough to keep reading.
What Works Well
The strength of this novel lies in its characters. Miyagi and Sendai are flawed, complex individuals, and watching their relationship evolve is the core of the story. The author does an excellent job of portraying their inner conflicts, desires, and denials. The shift in perspective between Miyagi and Sendai every few chapters gives a really nice, well-rounded view of their dynamic. I especially appreciate the slow burn; it allows their feelings for each other to develop organically. It felt like I was really getting to know them, and I was invested in their journey. The story is very character focused, with everything else taking a backseat.
Areas of Concern
I do have to address the translation, which can be a bit rough around the edges. While still readable, it can sometimes be clunky and awkward. I found myself correcting sentences in my head as I went along. It's definitely something to be aware of if you're considering diving in. Also, some readers might find the lack of plot a bit off-putting, as the story heavily emphasizes character development over external events. The beginning can also be off putting due to the dynamic between the girls and the sometimes uncomfortable power dynamic.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "Story About Buying My Classmate Once A Week" is a yuri novel that has really stuck with me. The well-developed characters, the slow-burn romance, and the exploration of complex emotions make it a worthwhile read, provided you're willing to overlook the translation issues and the initially strange premise. If you're a fan of character-driven stories with a focus on relationship development, I highly recommend giving this one a try. I'm definitely curious to see where the author takes these characters and their relationship in the future!
