Seiken Tsukai no Kinju Eishou Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on Seiken Tsukai no Kinju Eishou
"Seiken Tsukai no Kinju Eishou" certainly seems to be a polarizing read, with some readers absolutely loving it and others finding it deeply frustrating. After diving into what readers have to say, I've formed a clearer picture of what this series offers. It's a blend of action, fantasy, harem, and school life elements, and whether that mix works for you seems to depend heavily on your tolerance for certain tropes.
First Impressions
The initial hook of reincarnated heroes battling in a modern setting is undeniably interesting. I can see the appeal of exploring past lives and their impact on present-day relationships and conflicts. The concept of running into former lovers in new incarnations definitely adds a unique twist to the harem dynamic. However, some readers immediately bumped into issues that dampened their enthusiasm, so let's delve deeper.
What Works Well
Many readers praised the character development, particularly how the relationships between the MC and the female leads are built. The idea that the heroines are also reincarnations with memories of their past lives gives depth to their affections, moving beyond simple "love at first sight" scenarios. The action is also a high point, with the protagonist facing powerful opponents, including those with god-like abilities. The power scaling seems impressive, with the MC reaching significant levels of strength as the story progresses. Some readers found the MC's personality more realistic and relatable than similar protagonists in comparable series.
Areas of Concern
The biggest sticking point for some readers seems to be the protagonist's character. Some found him to be a typical, spineless Japanese MC who is too forgiving and naive, even towards those who commit heinous acts. This reluctance to kill, even in the face of extreme cruelty, was a major source of frustration. The "power of friendship" trope also seems to be heavily present, which can feel cliché and undermine the seriousness of the battles. Additionally, some felt the story suffered from repetitive elements as the series progressed.

Final Verdict
"Seiken Tsukai no Kinju Eishou" appears to be a series with a lot of potential, but one that ultimately falls short for some due to common genre tropes. If you enjoy action-packed stories with a harem element and don't mind a protagonist who leans towards pacifism, this might be a fun read. However, if you're looking for a morally gray MC who makes tough decisions, or if you're easily turned off by clichés, you might want to proceed with caution. It seems to be a series where your mileage may vary significantly.
