The premise – a skeleton protagonist leading a skeleton army against humanity – definitely grabbed my attention. I was hoping for a dark fantasy romp with some unique world-building, and in some ways, it delivered. However, it also felt like I was wading through some rough patches early on.
What Works Well
What I appreciated most was the author's commitment to the MC's inhuman nature. He's not some skeleton who suddenly develops a conscience; he's a being driven by self-preservation and a hunger for souls. This consistency made him a compelling, albeit morally questionable, character to follow. The accelerated growth aspect is also well done, providing a constant sense of progression as the MC gets stronger and more cunning. The military aspects, while not the main focus, do add a layer of strategic depth that I found interesting. There's a good amount of world-building that unfolds as the story progresses, revealing more about the mysteries surrounding the world and the potential demon king.

The novel isn't without its flaws. At times, the plot feels a little forced, and the characters, aside from the MC, can come across as somewhat underdeveloped or even a bit dim. Some of the military tactics described seem questionable, like using cavalry in dense forests, which pulled me out of the story a bit.
