Description

A cute, caring, and busty childhood friend in a mutual love. Shatter that illusion! New semester of the second year. I ended up in the same class as two interesting individuals. The boy’s name is Iizuka Masato. An introverted loner. In class, it’s unclear what he’s thinking, perhaps trying to appear aloof by building walls around himself. The girl’s name is Suzumiya Kiyoka. Fairly cute, with breasts quite assertive. She seems quiet, always chatting cheerfully with her female friends. What’s interesting about these two is that I often hear rumors that they’re childhood friends and are dating. However, upon closer observation, they don’t seem to be dating at all. Iizuka acts arrogant and boyfriend-like only in front of Suzumiya. In contrast, Suzumiya seems bothered. Usually, Iizuka is the only one initiating conversations, while Suzumiya rarely speaks to him and shows no signs of paying attention to him. Yet, the classmates around them believe the two are close and dating. I was enjoying observing these two, but somehow I, who was supposed to be just a bystander, got caught up in their commotion. That kind of romantic comedy.

Osananajimi to Iu Jubaku kara no Kaihou ~Boku no ga Saki ni Suki datta no ni! Shiran ga na~ Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

My Thoughts on Osananajimi to Iu Jubaku kara no Kaihou Boku no ga Saki ni Suki datta no ni! Shiran ga na

First Impressions

Okay, let's dive into "Osananajimi to Iu Jubaku kara no Kaihou Boku no ga Saki ni Suki datta no ni! Shiran ga na" (phew, that's a mouthful!). Going in, I was hoping for a sweet and comedic romance about childhood friends finally getting together. The title definitely suggests some fun rivalry, and the tags promised a confident protagonist and a beautiful female lead. I was intrigued to see how the author would handle the "clingy lover" aspect, as that can be a hit or miss for me.

What Works Well

I definitely appreciated the more mature portrayal of the high school relationship. It's refreshing to see characters who act like actual teenagers experiencing intimacy without all the awkwardness we often see in these stories. The relationship between the main characters is definitely the core of the story, and I found their interactions engaging. It's nice that the author doesn't drag out the inevitable, and instead focuses on the dynamic of an already established couple.

Areas of Concern

While the main couple's relationship is a strong point, I felt that some elements could have been developed further. It seems the story is relatively short, which might explain why some aspects felt a bit rushed. I also found myself wanting more depth from the supporting characters.

Final Verdict

Overall, "Osananajimi to Iu Jubaku kara no Kaihou Boku no ga Saki ni Suki datta no ni! Shiran ga na" is a decent read if you're looking for a lighthearted and relatively realistic romance. It's not groundbreaking, but it offers a refreshing take on the childhood friends trope with a focus on a mature and intimate relationship. If you're looking for a quick and enjoyable read, this might be worth checking out.
