First Impressions

Initially, I was drawn in by the premise: an Alpha/Alpha pairing in a world of celebrity drama. The first few chapters definitely hooked me with their intensity and hints of angst. However, I quickly realized this wasn’t going to be a light and fluffy read. The story throws you headfirst into a world of secrets, misunderstandings, and complex family relationships.

What Works Well

The core of this novel is undoubtedly the relationship between the two main characters. Their connection is described as intense, possessive, and all-consuming. I appreciated how the author explored the nuances of their personalities. One is doting and willing to believe anything, while the other is moody and temperamental. Qi Boyan felt really toxic at the start I also couldn’t hate him but as the story progresses you can understand why and it’s quite sympathizing. I like this story a lot also because of Ji Wang and how his character is flawed, and sees his mistakes.

I would say that some of the drama felt a bit unnecessary and prolonged. Some readers might find the main character's naivete frustrating, especially when the male lead's intentions are relatively obvious.
