"Kare to Hitokui no Nichijou" (My Daily Life with a Man-Eating Youkai) is a curious blend of genres that initially piqued my interest, and while it didn't entirely hook me, I can see why some readers are drawn to its unique premise.

First Impressions

The opening chapters definitely threw me for a loop. It felt like the story was trying to establish its footing, and I wasn't entirely sold on the initial character interactions. However, I pushed through, hoping the narrative would find its stride.

What Works Well

The core concept – a male protagonist entering into a contract with a man-eating youkai – is genuinely intriguing. It reminded me a bit of "Death Note" in its setup, which isn't a bad thing. The supernatural elements are woven into a school-life setting, creating a potentially interesting dynamic.
