Description
I have a girlfriend. Her name is Manami Watanabe. It’s been half a year since we started dating, but we haven’t even kissed yet. When I told my friends about it, they were like, ‘What? You haven’t even kissed yet? That’s pathetic.’ I felt pressured by their words and I felt like needed to do something. So, I gathered my courage and told Manami that I want to kiss her. ‘Manami, let’s kiss.’ However, she turned me down saying. ‘I don’t want to kiss yet.’

My Thoughts on I Don’t Want to Kiss Until We’re Married
First Impressions
Okay, so I went into "I Don’t Want to Kiss Until We’re Married" expecting a sweet, albeit perhaps slightly angsty, romance. The title suggested a slow-burn, maybe some cute misunderstandings. What I encountered, though, was… something else entirely. Let's just say my expectations were definitely subverted.
What Works Well
Honestly, finding positives in this one was a bit of a challenge. The early romance aspect might appeal to some, and I can see the potential in the childhood friends trope. The premise of exploring intimacy issues within a relationship also had promise. However, the execution left much to be desired. I did appreciate the initial setup of the protagonist having to navigate the differing desires of his girlfriend and childhood friend. It could have been a compelling exploration of boundaries and communication.
Areas of Concern
The biggest issue for me, and I suspect for many readers, is the protagonist's character. His indecisiveness quickly spirals into outright infidelity, making it incredibly difficult to root for him. The constant cheating and the lack of any real consequences or remorse made it hard to invest in the story. The plot feels repetitive, stuck in a cycle of betrayal and weak resolutions.
The female characters also suffer from a lack of depth. Their actions often feel driven by plot convenience rather than genuine motivations. The drama feels forced, and the characters' reactions to the protagonist's behavior are often inconsistent.

Final Verdict
Ultimately, "I Don’t Want to Kiss Until We’re Married" didn’t resonate with me. The unlikable characters, repetitive plot, and questionable moral compass made it a difficult read. While the initial premise had potential, the execution fell short. I can’t recommend this one unless you’re specifically looking for a story with a morally bankrupt protagonist and a heavy dose of drama.
