Description
The world: The MC sucks! Xiao Mo: My restoration is the best! The world: This MC is so indecisive but nosy; how irritating! Xiao Mo: Broken bones, missing innards, scarred faces; need me to restore them for you? The world: This MC is so unlikable; really want to pinch him to death! Xiao Mo: Police officer, is your gun broken? Leave it to me. The army’s airplanes and cannons can’t be used? Leave it to me! Aircraft carriers, spaceships? No problem! The world: This MC is so wishy-washy! He even wants to sympathize with a monster; is he the holy father? Xiao Mo: There are treasures everywhere you see in the apocalypse; just pick anything up, bring it home to restore, and it will be as good as new ^^ Hence, Xiao Mo that worked as the boss of the recycling shop became rich in the apocalypse… pui! Before this, he still has a very big problem to solve: If he doesn’t complete the mission, what should he do when he gets killed by the system? Xue Li Hong: Boss, why don’t you hire me. A mission a night; once the mission level rises, the number of times increases.

My Thoughts on The Scavengers
"The Scavengers" is a completed apocalypse BL novel with a system and a whole lot of action, and I went into it with high hopes. It definitely has some unique elements that kept me reading, but also some aspects that made me pause.
First Impressions
The premise is intriguing: Xiao Mo, a kind-hearted recycling shop owner, gets saddled with a system after a chance encounter with the future ML, Xue Li Hong. The world plunges into chaos, and they have to complete missions to survive. The initial chapters definitely pulled me in with the mystery of the system and the budding relationship between Xiao Mo and Xue Li Hong.
What Works Well
The world-building is definitely a strong point. I thought the concept of using cards and spatial distortion was pretty unique for an end-of-the-world setting. The plot itself is engaging, with a race-against-time feel as the characters navigate the apocalypse. I also appreciated the depth given to the characters' backstories, especially the emotional weight of the ML's history.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue, and it seems to be a common one, is the MC. Xiao Mo's extreme kindness and sometimes frustrating decision-making can be a bit much. While some appreciate his character and see his kindness as stemming from a psychological condition and a desire for a positive life, I found myself questioning his logic at times, especially in the early chapters. His reluctance to prepare for the apocalypse, even with warnings, felt a bit contrived.

Final Verdict
Overall, "The Scavengers" is a mixed bag. It has a unique world, interesting characters, and a compelling plot. However, the MC's frustrating behavior and some inconsistencies in the power system held it back from being a truly great read for me. If you're looking for a BL apocalypse novel with a system and can tolerate a sometimes frustrating MC, it might be worth checking out.
