Description
Allen, who became an adventurer at the age of 12 and desperately worked hard to support his very young siblings, quit being an adventurer when they became independent and started working as an employee at the Adventurers’ Guild right when they were recruiting. However, his job was a humble one; managing the Slime Dungeon that adventurers did not care for. “Damn it, that Guildmaster. Always using us so hard. This is definitely the reason why my predecessor quit!” After a month of continuing to stomp slimes while feeling depressed, the dungeon suddenly underwent a change and the monsters and traps were completely changed. Allen investigated alone, but he stepped on a level-down trap in a hidden room he discovered. Allen’s shoulders slumped in disappointment at his own misfortune, but he was blindsided by the unbelievable events that followed. “Huh, won’t this thing make me incredibly strong?” New omnipotent days of adventures, encounters, and repayment of favors have begun for Allen, the Guild’s chore employee.

My Thoughts on The Omnipotent Life of a Man in His Late Twenties That Begins With a Level-Down Trap (WN)
This title certainly grabs your attention, doesn't it? I dove into "The Omnipotent Life…" with a mix of curiosity and trepidation, and what I found was...well, complicated. It's a story with some interesting ideas that, unfortunately, stumbles a bit in its execution.
First Impressions
The premise is undeniably intriguing. We have a late-twenties protagonist who discovers a game-breaking exploit involving level-down traps. The initial chapters set the stage, explaining the world's leveling system and how everyone's stats work. But then, the MC finds a way to manipulate the system to become incredibly overpowered very quickly. I found myself immediately questioning the logic behind the level-up/level-down trap mechanic.
What Works Well
Despite my initial reservations, the story does have some redeeming qualities. I appreciate the protagonist's desire to live a double life – a normal guild employee by day, and a powerful adventurer by night. This "hiding in plain sight" trope can be fun, and the author does attempt to create a sense of tension around the MC's fear of his exploit being discovered. The story also has shonen elements that fans may like.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue lies with the initial world-building and the mechanics that drive the plot. The explanation of the leveling system felt convoluted, and the level-down trap exploit, while central to the story, didn't quite make sense. The author introduces the level up and down traps and then contradicts themselves later on. It felt like a convenient way to make the MC overpowered from the get-go, sacrificing logical consistency in the process.

Final Verdict
"The Omnipotent Life…" is a mixed bag. While the premise is interesting and the double-life aspect has potential, the flawed mechanics and world-building make it difficult to fully invest in the story. If you're willing to overlook these issues and enjoy a fairly generic overpowered protagonist story with the usual tropes, you might find some enjoyment here. However, if you prioritize logical consistency and well-developed systems, you might want to approach this one with caution.
