I was immediately drawn to Chu Jinyao, the female lead, and her difficult circumstances. The premise of the Crown Prince's soul residing in her jade pendant was intriguing and offered a unique dynamic.

What Works Well

The heart of this novel lies in its characters, particularly the leads. I found Chu Jinyao's growth from a timid country girl to a self-assured woman incredibly satisfying. Her sincerity and tenacity made me root for her every step of the way. Witnessing the Crown Prince, Qin Yi, fall in love was equally endearing. The slow-burn romance felt natural and earned, built on mutual respect and genuine connection. The author did a wonderful job of depicting their relationship evolving from companions to soulmates.

The political intrigue, while not overly complex, added a layer of depth to the story.
