Sleeping Bunny
By konohara narise
2002
Description
To impress the girl he has a crush on, Kouichi (a high schooler) lets her use his address in a gay ad. Soon, a reply comes, and Kouichi finds himself meeting with the man he made a joke of, intending to reject him. But he was surprised to find out that the man is actually a teacher in his school! Hirokazu is a really nice man. He seemed so lonely that Kouichi just couldn’t find it in himself to hurt him. One date leads to another, and Kouichi falls for his teacher for real… the problem is, Hirokazu doesn’t know that Kouichi is a student at his workplace. A sweet, down-to-earth story. (The book art is quite atrocious, ignore it and read chapter 1.)

My Thoughts on Sleeping Bunny
"Sleeping Bunny" promised a sweet and heartwarming story, and for the most part, it delivered. As someone who enjoys a good dose of romance and slice-of-life, I was intrigued by the premise. While it wasn't without its flaws, I found myself charmed by the characters and their journey.
First Impressions
The cover is... well, let's just say it's not the strongest selling point. However, I'm glad I didn't let it deter me. From the very beginning, I was drawn into the realistic portrayal of the characters' emotions and struggles. The author does a great job of creating a believable world where love blossoms in unexpected places.
What Works Well
The strength of "Sleeping Bunny" lies in its ability to pack a complete and emotionally resonant story into just a few chapters. I appreciated the author's skill in developing the characters and their relationships in such a concise format. The narrative flows well, and I could easily visualize the scenes unfolding like panels in a manga or scenes in an anime. The epilogue, set eight years in the future, was a particularly sweet and satisfying conclusion. I especially loved the focus on the realistic emotions and the fragile nature of both main characters.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the story overall, I did find some aspects less appealing. Some of the pronouns and perspectives used in the story were a bit confusing, making it difficult to follow who was speaking at times. I also felt that the story could have benefited from a few more chapters to flesh out the characters' lives after high school. In addition, the male lead could be annoying at times and the MC permissive.

Final Verdict
Despite its minor flaws, "Sleeping Bunny" is a worthwhile read for fans of sweet, realistic, and heartwarming stories. The author's ability to convey emotions and develop characters in a short amount of time is commendable. If you're looking for a quick and enjoyable romance with a satisfying ending, I recommend giving "Sleeping Bunny" a try.
