I've been on the lookout for a new skill-taker story, and this one seemed to offer a unique take on the trope. After diving into the available chapters, I have mixed feelings. It's a story with potential, but it also has some significant drawbacks.
First Impressions
My first impression was positive. The early chapters establish the world and the MC's abilities at a good pace. The "game elements," like skills and levels, being visible only to the protagonist is a clever twist. It creates an interesting dynamic where the MC operates within a "normal" fantasy world, but with a unique perspective.
What Works Well
The slower pacing is a plus for me. It allows for a more deliberate exploration of the world and characters. The story doesn't rush into action, instead taking its time to build the foundation. I also appreciate the limitations placed on the MC's skill-stealing ability. The maximum number of skills and their levels prevent the protagonist from becoming overwhelmingly overpowered, which can sometimes ruin these types of stories.
