First Impressions
Going in, I knew this was a "wife chasing crematorium" story, so I braced myself for the suffering. The initial chapters are brutal, depicting the ML's abuse of the MC. Some readers might find this difficult to stomach, and I understand that. However, I agree that these early chapters are essential to understanding the characters' motivations and the depth of their pain. It sets the stage for the rollercoaster of emotions to come.
What Works Well
The author excels at creating tension and keeping me invested in the characters' fates. The push and pull between love and hate, the constant betrayals and near-death experiences, kept me on the edge of my seat. I found myself sympathizing with both the MC and the ML, even when they were at their worst. That's a testament to the author's skill in crafting flawed and compelling characters. I also appreciated the unique ABO world setting, which added another layer of complexity to their relationship. There are plenty of twists and turns that keep the story from becoming predictable.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the novel overall, I did have a few minor issues. The ending, while happy, felt a bit rushed and unconvincing to me. I felt like the introduction of the child and the ML's sudden Enigma differentiation was unnecessary and a bit too convenient.
