My Thoughts on My Reality is a Romance Game
"My Reality is a Romance Game" definitely threw me for a loop, and in a good way! I went in expecting one thing, and got something entirely different, and much more compelling. It's a clever subversion of the usual "stuck in a game" trope, blending romance game elements with a heavy dose of mystery and thriller.
First Impressions
The title is definitely a bit misleading, and I think that's intentional. It initially presents itself as a lighthearted romance, but quickly descends into something much darker and more intricate. If you're going in expecting a straightforward harem with a dominant MC, you might be disappointed. But if you're open to a story with depth, twists, and a protagonist who has to actually solve problems, you're in for a treat.
What Works Well
The mystery aspect is by far the strongest element. The author does a fantastic job of maintaining suspense throughout, and I found myself constantly trying to piece together the clues alongside the protagonist. The integration of game mechanics, like save/load files and stats, is clever and adds another layer to the problem-solving. I also appreciate that the romance, while present, isn't the sole focus. It develops organically, and the relationships feel believable, even if some of the female characters can be a bit… intense. I particularly enjoyed the protagonist's gradual development; he starts off as a bit of a NEET, but grows into a capable and resourceful character.
Areas of Concern
I do have a few minor gripes. The protagonist can be a bit dense at times, which can be frustrating. Also, while the romance is well-written, it is slow-burn, so if you're primarily here for that, you might find yourself wanting more. Finally, the pacing can be uneven, with some mysteries being resolved a bit too quickly.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "My Reality is a Romance Game" is a genuinely engaging and well-written novel. It's a refreshing take on the isekai genre, with a strong focus on mystery and character development. If you're looking for something that will keep you guessing, and don't mind a bit of a slow-burn romance, I highly recommend giving it a try. I'm definitely hooked and eager to see where the story goes next.
