Description

"Kensei Ni Uragirareta Osananajimi Tabiji" is a web novel that throws you headfirst into a world of betrayal, adventure, and slow-burn character growth. While it has moments that shine, it also suffers from pacing issues and frustrating character decisions. Overall, I'm conflicted.
First Impressions
The initial chapters are undeniably gripping. The author does a great job of portraying the MC's devastation after being betrayed by his childhood sweetheart. I felt genuinely invested in his pain and desire to find a new path. The premise itself, a world where the MC is supposed to be the strongest human but gets sidelined by NTR, is intriguing enough to keep you hooked.
What Works Well
The slow-burn character development, while frustrating at times (more on that later), is ultimately a strength. The MC doesn't suddenly become overpowered. Instead, he grows gradually, learning to harness his unique abilities with the help of new companions. I particularly enjoyed the budding romance with the archer girl; it felt like a well-deserved ray of sunshine amidst the darkness of the betrayal. There's a good balance of action, adventure, and humor, even if the humor can sometimes feel a little out of place given the serious themes.
Areas of Concern
The pacing is a major issue. The MC's reluctance to embrace his potential, specifically becoming half-dragon, drags on for what feels like an eternity. This procrastination, especially with a war looming, is infuriating. I found myself screaming at the screen, urging him to just get on with it! Furthermore, some of the plot points feel contrived, seemingly designed to prolong the story rather than organically advance it. The author's writing can, at times, be a bit clumsy, leading to inconsistent character behavior and questionable decision-making.

However, it's bogged down by slow pacing, frustrating character decisions, and a tendency towards unnecessary drama. If you're a patient reader who enjoys slow-burn stories with a heavy dose of angst, you might find something to enjoy here. But be prepared for a bumpy ride and the occasional urge to rage-quit.
