My Thoughts on I’m the Male Lead’s Brother
"I’m the Male Lead’s Brother" presents an interesting concept: a world-hopping adventure where the protagonist, Yuan Jia, inhabits the bodies of male lead’s doomed brothers. The premise alone hooked me, and I was eager to see how he'd navigate these treacherous situations.
First Impressions
Initially, I found myself drawn in by the early arcs. The idea of Yuan Jia having to survive and thwart the schemes of those responsible for the original brother's demise was compelling. The ancient settings, particularly, offered a rich backdrop for political maneuvering and personal growth. I was ready for a rollercoaster of emotions and clever strategies.
What Works Well
Yuan Jia himself is a strong point. I appreciated his calm demeanor, intelligence, and adaptability. He seems like the kind of character who can handle just about anything thrown his way. The fact that he's not overly vengeful or hypocritical is a breath of fresh air. I especially enjoyed stories where the "male lead" wasn't necessarily a bad person, allowing for a more nuanced and even positive relationship to develop. The "Uncanny Ghost" arc seems to be a standout, and I'm definitely looking forward to getting to that part.
Areas of Concern
However, the novel seems to stumble a bit as it progresses. I can see how the overlapping worlds could become confusing, potentially detracting from the overall enjoyment. The quality of the arcs seems inconsistent, with some being more engaging than others. I also see that the side characters may act in questionable ways. The first arc seems to be a point of contention for some, and I'll be paying close attention as I read to see if the issues raised are resolved.
