Description
The sky and the earth are infinitesimal as a grain, and a life of peace is like the sea. Lu Heng, who crossed over to the other world, found himself transformed into a huge white wolf, a mountain God of a remote mountain with a group of villagers under his rule. In this strange and wild world, demons and giant beasts run rampant, and human order is almost non-existent. These, however, are not what Lu Heng needs to think about. My Thoughts on I’ll Quit Being a God
"I’ll Quit Being a God" is quite the ride, a transmigration story where our protagonist finds himself as a wolf god. It's a blend of genres – action, adventure, and even a touch of slice-of-life – that creates a unique reading experience. However, it's not without its flaws.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise. The idea of a protagonist grappling with newfound godhood in a cultivation world promised a lot of potential. The early chapters do a decent job of establishing the world and the MC's cautious approach to his powers, which I found quite refreshing. The comedic undertones also helped to keep things light and entertaining.
What Works Well
The world-building is definitely a strong point. The author has clearly put thought into crafting the world, and the way the MC's actions impact it is interesting to watch. The characters, at least in the beginning, have distinct personalities and motivations. I particularly enjoyed the interactions between the MC and some of the more eccentric individuals he encounters. There's a certain "Mushishi" vibe, with the MC's adventures feeling both mysterious and somewhat otherworldly. Many have enjoyed the conversations as realistic daoists.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the novel stumbles in its later stages. The ending feels rushed and unsatisfying, leaving many plot threads unresolved. Several reviewers pointed out the numerous plot holes that crop up, and I have to agree that they detract from the overall experience. Some characters who were initially intriguing simply disappear, which is disappointing. The pacing can also be an issue, with some arcs dragging on for far too long. The MC's passive nature might also frustrate some readers, as he doesn't always take decisive action.

Final Verdict
"I’ll Quit Being a God" is a mixed bag. It has moments of brilliance, particularly in its world-building and character interactions, but it's ultimately let down by its rushed ending and numerous plot holes. If you're looking for a lighthearted read with a unique premise and don't mind a few imperfections, it might be worth checking out. However, be prepared for a potentially frustrating conclusion. I'd give it a cautious recommendation, leaning towards a 3.5/5.
