The title alone grabbed my attention – a reincarnated final boss opting for culinary pursuits over world domination? I was immediately intrigued. The premise has so much potential for humor and unique storytelling. However, after diving in, I found myself a bit underwhelmed. While the initial concept is promising, the execution leaves something to be desired.
What Works Well
The core idea of a powerful being choosing a peaceful, domestic life is definitely appealing. There's a certain charm in seeing a character with immense power focusing on perfecting a dish instead of obliterating heroes. The cooking aspect itself is also a draw. The idea of the MC's cooking being revolutionary, especially in a world where food quality is supposedly lacking, has potential.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue lies in the pacing and character development. The chapters feel incredibly short, leaving little room for meaningful plot progression or deeper exploration of the world. I also struggled with the MC's characterization. While the desire to avoid conflict is understandable, the MC sometimes comes across as naive, which feels inconsistent with the supposed intelligence gained from their previous life as an office worker. The skills are also poorly explained and feel like convenient plot devices rather than integral parts of the character's growth. The lack of a restaurant, despite the title, is also a bit frustrating.
