My Thoughts on I Know That After School, The Saint is More Than Just Noble

"I Know That After School, The Saint is More Than Just Noble" is a completed rom-com web novel that I've been following. It's got a solid 4.1/5 rating, and while I can see why people enjoy it, I also understand some of the criticisms. It's definitely a story with both strong points and noticeable flaws.

First Impressions

Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of a fluffy, feel-good story. The premise of an average guy and a seemingly perfect girl finding common ground is a classic for a reason. The early interactions were cute, and I was eager to see how their relationship would develop. However, I soon realized that some aspects of the story might not be for everyone.

What Works Well

One of the strongest aspects, in my opinion, is the dynamic between the main characters, Seira and Yamato. The author does a pretty good job of showing how much they enjoy each other's company. There's a certain naturalness to their interactions that keeps me invested. I also appreciate that, as the story progresses, Yamato, despite his initial flaws, demonstrates growth and actively works towards strengthening his bond with Seira. This commitment is a refreshing change from some of the more passive male leads I've encountered. The illustrations are also really cute and give the story a nice visual appeal.

Areas of Concern

However, I can't ignore some of the valid criticisms. Yamato, in the beginning, can be frustratingly wimpy and self-deprecating. His constant apologies and flustered reactions definitely tested my patience at times. Also, Seira's near-perfect characterization borders on Mary Sue territory. While her kindness and consideration are admirable, it can feel a little unrealistic. I also found the ending to be somewhat rushed. It felt like some of the conflicts that were built up throughout the story were resolved too quickly, leaving me wanting a bit more closure.

Final Verdict

Overall, "I Know That After School, The Saint is More Than Just Noble" is an enjoyable, albeit flawed, rom-com. If you're looking for a lighthearted read with a focus on character interactions and don't mind some initial awkwardness from the male lead, this might be right up your alley. Just be prepared for a somewhat rushed ending and a female lead who's almost too perfect. I'd say it's a decent read, but not quite a masterpiece.
