My Thoughts on Here Comes the King of the Underworld!
First Impressions
Okay, so "Here Comes the King of the Underworld!" is another isekai story, and I went in with relatively neutral expectations. The premise of a reincarnated protagonist wielding death magic definitely piqued my interest, and the 'antihero' tag suggested a potentially darker and more morally ambiguous narrative, which I always appreciate. The initial chapters were intriguing enough to keep me reading, but the real question was whether it could maintain that initial promise.
What Works Well
The MC, Shu, is a definite highlight. I found his apathetic and clever personality to be a refreshing change from the typical overpowered-but-naive isekai protagonist. I also liked the dynamic between Shu and Iris, the female lead.
