My Thoughts on Heavy Object

"Heavy Object" is quite the ride, a blend of mecha action, military strategy, and a dash of humor that definitely kept me entertained, even if it occasionally left me scratching my head. It's a story that throws you into a world where massive, nearly invincible machines called "Objects" dominate warfare, and where a couple of resourceful soldiers have to find ways to outsmart them.

First Impressions

Initially, the premise grabbed me. The idea of ordinary soldiers taking on these behemoths without the aid of their own overpowered mechs is undeniably appealing. I was ready for some underdog action and clever tactics, and in many ways, the story delivered. The initial world-building and the introduction of the main characters, particularly their contrasting personalities, made me eager to see how they would overcome seemingly impossible odds.

What Works Well

The action sequences are a definite highlight. The author does a great job of describing the battles and the strategies employed by the protagonists. I found myself invested in their plans, even when they seemed utterly ludicrous. The series shines when it focuses on the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the main characters as they exploit weaknesses in the Objects.

Areas of Concern

However, the series isn't without its flaws. I noticed a recurring sentiment about the repetitive nature of the jokes and some plot elements. While the humor is initially charming, it can become tiresome over time. I also found the level of plot armor surrounding the main character a bit hard to swallow at times.
