"Golden Assistant" is a wild ride through the entertainment industry with a slow-burn romance that genuinely surprised me. It's a story about growth, acceptance, and finding love in unexpected places, and I found myself surprisingly invested in Xiao Yi and Lu Zhou's journey.

First Impressions

Initially, I wasn't sure what to expect. Entertainment industry stories can often be a bit cliché, but "Golden Assistant" immediately felt different. The first meeting between Xiao Yi and the film star Lu Zhou is hilarious and sets the tone for the dynamic that unfolds. I was a little hesitant at first, since I wasn't sure how this would turn out, as it's about the entertainment world. But Golden Assistant has gone above my expectations, and the relationships are not rushed or too slow either, the characters are given a lot of time to develop.

What Works Well

The character development is definitely a highlight. Watching Xiao Yi evolve from a somewhat lost and unconfident graduate to a capable assistant is incredibly satisfying. It's a slow burn, but the romance feels earned and realistic. I love how both ML and MC became bent because of each other. Romance is slow burn, love it. The humor is also a plus, it's not cheesy or overdone, but rather arises naturally from the situations and character interactions. I also appreciated the glimpse into the entertainment industry, which felt more grounded and realistic than in other similar novels.

Areas of Concern

While I enjoyed the slow pace, I can see how some readers might find it a bit too slow, especially in the beginning. The side characters and the world is not very fleshed out but the main cp development between Xiao Yi and Lu Zhou is definitely a highlight, their antics lol. They feel so realistic?the mains I mean, Lu Zhou especially, he's not that typical ML that falls for face etc. He's complex.

Despite minor pacing issues and some potentially unlikeable initial character traits, "Golden Assistant" is a rewarding read. The strong character development, realistic portrayal of the entertainment industry, and heartwarming romance make it a standout in the genre.
