Even Posing as a Hero is Easy–Why? Cause I’m a God– Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on Even Posing as a Hero is Easy–Why? Cause I’m a God–
This web novel certainly has a catchy title, doesn't it? After diving in, I found it to be a mixed bag, leaning towards a fairly standard isekai experience with some unique quirks. It's not going to blow your mind with originality, but it might scratch that itch for a power fantasy if you're in the mood for something light.
First Impressions
The premise is certainly intriguing. A god, failing to gain followers on Earth, gets transported to a game-like fantasy world. Right off the bat, you expect an overpowered protagonist, and you get one. The initial chapters set the stage, and I was cautiously optimistic. However, as I progressed, I noticed some recurring themes that either elevated or detracted from my enjoyment.
What Works Well
The "game-like fantasy setting" is reasonably well-executed. I enjoyed the system mechanics and how the MC navigates this new world, even if his methods sometimes felt contrived. The core concept of a god trying to blend in as a hero, despite his overwhelming power, has some comedic potential. I found the interactions with some of the demi-human characters, especially the naga, to be refreshing. There's a definite potential for a fun, if shallow, read here.
Areas of Concern
My main issue, and it seems to be a common one, is the inconsistent application of the MC's god-like abilities. The author seems to go to great lengths to prevent him from using his powers, often resorting to flimsy excuses. This creates a frustrating disconnect. Furthermore, the characters, while not outright terrible, lack depth. The female characters often fall into the trap of simply fawning over the protagonist, and even I found the constant descriptions of their... assets... to be a bit much after a while. The plot, too, can feel stretched thin, with segmented chapters that don't always contribute meaningfully to the overall narrative. I also find the MC's personality to be a bit bland, he acts like a typical otaku instead of the god he is supposed to be.
Final Verdict
"Even Posing as a Hero is Easy–Why? Cause I’m a God–" is a decent, if uninspired, isekai story. If you're looking for a deep, thought-provoking narrative, this isn't it. However, if you're in the mood for a light, brainless read with an overpowered protagonist and harem elements, you might find some enjoyment here. Just don't expect anything groundbreaking. I'd give it a cautious recommendation, but with the caveat that your mileage may vary.
