Description
A middle-aged engineer who was weary of life ended up being reborn into a different world as Zack, the son of a frontier feudal lord. Once there, he received a mission from God. He was told to prepare himself for the task of “guiding the future hero of the world”. With that in mind, Zack not only trained himself in swordsmanship and magic but also committed himself towards reforming problems in hygiene and education. After developing a new local product, Zack was reminded of his once forgotten dream: brewing alcohol! As he resurrected his long lost passion, it was the beginning of his “Dream Life”.

My Thoughts on Dream Life
"Dream Life" presents an interesting premise: a reincarnated engineer using his modern knowledge to improve a medieval world, primarily through brewing. While the initial concept hooked me, the execution seems to have left a lot to be desired, based on my reading. It’s a story with clear strengths but also some significant weaknesses.
First Impressions
The early chapters seem to offer a promising "slow life" Isekai experience. The protagonist, a middle-aged man reborn, isn't driven by heroics but by a desire to build a better life using his engineering background. This focus on civic improvements and alcohol brewing offers a unique twist, setting it apart from typical Isekai adventures. However, this focus on slice-of-life elements may be the problem, as it seems to drag on and make the story uninteresting.
What Works Well
The initial novelty of the MC's goals is a definite plus. His engineering knowledge provides a more realistic foundation for introducing technology to a medieval society, unlike many stories where the protagonist's knowledge feels superficial. Also, the unique premise of focusing on brewing and its impact on the world is a nice change of pace.
Areas of Concern
Character development appears to be a major sticking point. Several readers pointed out the lack of depth in characters beyond the MC, describing them as automatons existing solely to support him. The plot seems to lose its way around chapter 120, devolving into a tedious focus on alcohol production, overshadowing the main storyline.

Final Verdict
While "Dream Life" has a compelling premise and some enjoyable slice-of-life elements, the poor characterization, meandering plot, and questionable harem elements ultimately detract from the experience. The translation quality also seems to be an issue, potentially obscuring nuances and adding to the frustration. Overall, I would say this novel is a 3/5. It has potential, but it doesn't quite reach it.
