My Thoughts on Dakara, Anata o Koko de Koroshimasu
"Dakara, Anata o Koko de Koroshimasu" (which, for my sanity, I'll call "DAK" from now on) is definitely a ride. It's a blend of shoujo ai, fantasy, and some seriously dark psychological elements that left me feeling…complicated. This definitely isn't a fluffy, feel-good story, so buckle up.
First Impressions
The cover initially drew me in; it looks quite charming! But don't let that fool you. This story dives deep into some grim territory. I went in expecting something completely different, and I think that disconnect colored my initial read. It's a far cry from wholesome Yuri, that's for sure.
What Works Well
The concept is undeniably unique. I appreciate the attempt to create a distinct power system and characters, even if the execution wasn't always perfect. I found myself intrigued by the three main characters, including the antagonist. They had moments where they really shone, adding some much-needed depth to the narrative. The action sequences are frequent and intense, and if you're looking for a story with plenty of gore, DAK certainly delivers. I will say, it held my attention throughout, so it was ultimately a worthwhile experience.
Areas of Concern
My main issue lies with the storytelling. While the premise is interesting, the plot felt predictable after a certain point. The character development felt rushed. The story introduces a large cast, but it doesn't give enough time to truly connect with them, which makes it hard to feel invested in their fates. The world-building also felt somewhat superficial, leaving me wanting more depth and context.

Final Verdict
"Dakara, Anata o Koko de Koroshimasu" is a mixed bag. While it boasts a unique concept and some intriguing characters, the shallow storytelling and predictable plot hold it back. The over-the-top gore and tragic ending might appeal to some, but it's definitely not for the faint of heart. I'd recommend it as a time-pass read if you're looking for something dark and action-packed, but don't expect a masterpiece. I give it a solid 3/5.
