Description
“You will be my partner for the upcoming Lunatic Night.” ──Thus, I was led to a grand mansion where the very man I had encountered on that fateful night awaited me. In the bustling metropolis of Eastschist, the downtown area is whispered to be the most dangerous of all. A city alive with sirens that wail until dawn, it is a place where crime runs rampant, particularly on nights of the full moon. Little do the people know that within this “melting pot of races,” creatures not of this world also roam. On these perilous streets, where survival often means selling one’s body, Ange Blanc, an Omega, found himself on the brink of being taken by a member of the Mantegna family, the mafia that rules Eastschist. Just then, he was saved by a younger man with amber eyes, Aaron Tikaani. To help Ange find work, Aaron offered him a position doing odd jobs at the upscale club owned by his brother. Enchanted by his amber eyes, Ange began to call him “Amber.” However, since that day, he had not seen him again and instead caught the attention of Ian, Amber’s brother and the owner of the club.

My Thoughts on Ange, My Angel
"Ange, My Angel" is a completed original story with an ongoing translation that I decided to dive into, drawn in by the blend of adult themes, romance, and supernatural elements. It’s an omegaverse tale with a heavy focus on drama and psychological elements, so I went in prepared for an emotional rollercoaster. Did it deliver? Well, it was a mixed bag.
First Impressions
The premise itself is intriguing: fated lovers, a poor protagonist, and a handsome male lead – it's a recipe for a potentially captivating story. The tags like "love at first sight" and "mpreg" also set certain expectations, which the story does try to meet head-on. I was immediately curious to see how the author would navigate these tropes and themes.
What Works Well
The core concept of fated love is definitely present, and the author does a decent job of establishing the connection between the characters. If you're a fan of the omegaverse genre, the world-building, while perhaps not groundbreaking, provides a familiar framework for the story to unfold. The promise of a kind love interest is also fulfilled to some degree, offering moments of tenderness amidst the heavier themes.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue, and this is where I think the story falters, is the pacing and overall execution. I found myself wishing for more depth and development, particularly in the character arcs. I felt like the story was rushing through important plot points, leaving me wanting more substance and emotional resonance. The story felt "meh" which is not what you want to feel after reading a novel. The potential was there, but it felt like it wasn't fully realized.
Final Verdict
"Ange, My Angel" has some appealing elements, particularly for those who enjoy omegaverse stories with fated love and mpreg themes. However, the rushed pacing and lack of depth ultimately prevent it from reaching its full potential. I would say it's an okay read if you're looking for something quick and relatively light within the genre, but don't expect a deeply immersive or emotionally resonant experience. I'd give it a tentative 3 out of 5 stars.
