Description
Ishikawa Seiji, a plain 31-year-old salaryman and a bachelor, has only one hobby: playing games. One day, he comes across the news of the death of the developer behind the worldwide hit RPG, “Fantasy Saga.” Shocked by the news, Seiji roams the internet and stumbles upon a message recruiting players for the new “Fantasy Saga” trial version. Without much thought, he clicks on the link and starts solving 100 challenging problems. Suddenly, he loses consciousness, and when he awakens, he finds himself in a sun-dappled forest. Reincarnated into the world of the game, Seiji is chased by slimes, attacked by bears, but gradually becomes stronger through these encounters. As he gets involved with others, he starts changing their lives as well. Will he be able to enjoy this new world to the fullest? Can he defeat the Demon Lord?

The novel's strength lies in its focus on game mechanics. The author clearly put effort into developing a system of professions, skills, and progression. I found myself enjoying the moments where the MC leverages his knowledge to overcome challenges. There's a certain satisfaction in seeing a character use their understanding of the game world to their advantage. The translation, while not perfect, is generally readable, allowing me to follow the story without too much difficulty.
Areas of Concern
My main issue stems from the uneven power scaling and the somewhat simplistic portrayal of the world. The MC's rapid progression, especially early on, felt a bit jarring. While I appreciate a capable protagonist, his almost instant mastery of various professions before even hitting his teens pushed the boundaries of believability for me. This, combined with the underdeveloped world, led to a sense of disconnect. I was hoping for a more immersive experience, with a richer history and more nuanced characters.
