Description
Once an orphan turned street child, and later almost killed by a foster father, the genius alchemist Glass Dimelia had walked a life of misfortune. Ravaged by illness at a young age, Glass devoted himself to his final research in a desperate bid to defy death, only to be sentenced to execution by a Kamut, the agent of the goddess, for touching the forbidden. Unable to resist, Glass was condemned, but was praised by the goddess Aurora for his achievements in alchemy during his lifetime and given the opportunity to “reincarnate.” Although he was supposed to be reborn as a new life with all memories erased, due to the unilateral decision of another goddess, Fortuna, he was allowed to reincarnate while retaining his memories. Glass reincarnated three hundred years after his death. Born as a baby girl, Glass was named Leafa by her parents and embarked on a new life. This is the story of a lonely alchemist who didn’t know what happiness was, coming to know love, and seizing happiness with her own hands.

My Thoughts on Alchemist Startover
"Alchemist Startover" has been quite the ride so far, and I've got some mixed feelings about it. It's a blend of genres that somehow manages to (mostly) work, and the core concept is intriguing. However, like any ambitious story, it has its stumbles.
First Impressions
What initially grabbed me was the unique take on reincarnation. The protagonist, burdened by the trauma of her past life, isn't your typical overpowered MC who breezes through challenges. Instead, she's emotionally stunted and hesitant, slowly learning to embrace emotions and build connections. This vulnerability made her relatable, and I was invested in her journey from the start.
What Works Well
The world-building is definitely a strong point. The author has clearly put a lot of thought into the intricate details of this world, and it shows. I also appreciated the protagonist's cleverness. She's not simply handed power; she leverages her past knowledge to gain an edge, which feels earned and satisfying. Plus, the found family aspect and hints of yuri add a heartwarming layer to the story. I find myself rooting for her to find happiness and build meaningful relationships.
Areas of Concern
As the story progresses, I do find some aspects becoming a little harder to swallow. There were some concerns about the adults in the world being a little too accepting of the MC's genius, especially considering she's still a child. It's a common trope, but it can strain suspension of disbelief when taken too far.

Final Verdict
Overall, "Alchemist Startover" is an enjoyable read with a compelling protagonist and rich world-building. However, it's not without its flaws. The plot inconsistencies and occasional lapses in logic can detract from the experience. Despite these issues, I remain invested in the MC's journey and curious to see where the story goes. I'd recommend it with a slight word of caution: be prepared to suspend your disbelief from time to time. I'm giving it a tentative 3.5/5.
