This title is certainly a mouthful, and the story follows suit! "After Saving a Beautiful Girl..." dives headfirst into familiar rom-com territory, where a seemingly ordinary protagonist unexpectedly disrupts the plans of a handsome, but secretly terrible, rival. While it has its moments, it ultimately left me feeling a bit underwhelmed.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of a charismatic protagonist and the downfall of a hypocritical antagonist. The premise of a "harem stealing" story can be fun when executed well. However, the early chapters felt a bit generic, relying on overused tropes like the "nerdy guy is secretly cool" and the "damsel in distress" saved by the MC.
What Works Well
The catharsis of watching the antagonist's carefully constructed facade crumble is definitely a highlight. There's a certain satisfaction in seeing his plans thwarted, especially when the female characters start to recognize his true nature. Also, the MC's competence is a welcome change.
