Okay, that title is a mouthful, isn't it? But honestly, it's pretty accurate in setting expectations for this novel. It's got all the hallmarks of a wish-fulfillment story, where an unfairly treated protagonist gets his due. I dove in hoping for a relaxing read, and I mostly got what I expected, but with a few reservations.
First Impressions
My initial reaction was cautiously optimistic. The setup – a ridiculously powerful mage being fired for being "incompetent" – felt a little cliché, but I was willing to see where it went. The early chapters focus on the aftermath of his firing and how he navigates his newfound freedom. I appreciated that the story didn't linger too long on the injustice of his situation, instead moving quickly to his new life.
What Works Well
The power fantasy aspect is definitely a draw. The MC is undeniably strong, and it's satisfying to see him effortlessly overcome challenges. I also found the world-building engaging. The magic system is interesting, and the hints of a larger plot involving a potential demon lord or evil empire kept me curious.

The pacing can be a bit slow at times. The "slice of life" elements are prevalent, which can be enjoyable, but there are moments where I felt the story was meandering. I also had some trouble connecting with the MC. He's portrayed as someone who is oblivious to his own strength and the feelings of others, which can be frustrating.
