First Impressions
Going in, I knew this was going to be heavy, given the tags: abusive characters, bullying, and forced relationships. The initial chapters certainly didn't disappoint in that regard. I immediately felt sympathy for Sugimoto Kazuya, the MC, who seems to be caught in a web of unfortunate circumstances. However, as the story progressed, my perspective started to shift.
What Works Well
The strength of "A Disgusting Guy" lies in its exploration of morally grey characters. It's easy to initially paint Keiichi Miura, the ML, as the sole villain, but the narrative cleverly reveals the nuances within his character. I appreciated that the story didn't shy away from portraying the uglier sides of human nature. Both Kazuya and Keiichi are flawed, and their actions have consequences. It's this complexity that makes the story so captivating. The psychological aspect is very strong, and the drama keeps you hooked, even when you want to look away.

While I appreciated the morally ambiguous characters, the sheer intensity of the darker themes might not be for everyone. The abusive elements are prominent and can be difficult to stomach. Also, the emotionally weak protagonist may frustrate some readers who prefer a more proactive lead.
