Zhan Long. Where do I even begin? This novel is quite the rollercoaster, and after diving deep, I have a lot to unpack. It's a VRMMORPG with a mix of action, adventure, and a healthy dose of… well, let's just say "mature" themes. The overall reader rating is middling, and honestly, I can see why.

First Impressions

Initially, I was hooked. The premise of an ex-special forces operative becoming a bodyguard and then diving into a VR game sounded like a recipe for awesome action. The main character, with his supposed real-world skills translating into the game, seemed promising. But that initial spark dimmed as I progressed.

What Works Well

The early character interactions, especially between the male and female leads, were genuinely enjoyable. There's a certain charm to the lighthearted moments and the initial power progression. Supposedly, this is a VR game with 90%+ reality, but dodging and basic combat tactics seem to be optional extras. It often feels like a stat-based slugfest rather than a skilled battle. I also noticed the real-life segments can feel disconnected and, frankly, absurd. The MC juggles being a bodyguard, running a game studio, and doing police work, all while spending 12+ hours in the game? It strains believability.
