Description
《I’m sorry, I only thought of you as a cat》 On the third day after the death of his beloved cat, Guaji, the heartbroken He Yunzhou picked up a man on his doorstep. Yes, he knew that the other party was just a neighbor who lives upstairs. But before this day, he couldn’t have imagined that there really was such a person so similar to his Guaji…… It was probably because of this that he couldn’t help but raise this awkward, wayward, and troublesome man. As for the industry elite; the dashing, rich, outstanding, wanderer, Huo Zheng, He wouldn’t realize until much later, That as it turns out, the man treated him so well wasn’t because he wanted to have a partner, But because he……is just a substitute for a dead cat. …… Huo Zheng: Every day I fall in love alone and rely on my own imagination to the ups and downs of love, sadness, joy, and parting……(he’s really a gong that thinks a lot) Meanwhile, He Yunzhou: Cook with your heart and feed the one that looks like his cat on his dining table. Love? What is love? (bewildered)

What’s Mr. Huo Eating Today Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on What’s Mr. Huo Eating Today
"What’s Mr. Huo Eating Today?" is a novel that definitely left me with mixed feelings. It's a BL romance focusing on the relationship between a gentle, somewhat awkward illustrator, He Yunzhou, and the initially cold, but ultimately lonely, Huo Zheng. The premise itself is intriguing, and I can see why it's garnered a dedicated fanbase.
First Impressions
Going in, I was drawn in by the promise of a heartwarming story centered around food and healing. The idea of a lonely MC finding solace and accidentally seducing someone through his cooking sounded adorable. However, I quickly noticed that the plot relies heavily on misunderstandings, which can be a real make-or-break element for me.
What Works Well
The strongest aspect of this novel is undoubtedly the romance. Many readers, myself included, found the central relationship to be quite sweet, despite its unconventional beginnings. The way the two main characters, each with their own traumas and vulnerabilities, gradually heal and find comfort in each other is genuinely touching. I also appreciated the foodie element; the detailed descriptions of the dishes He Yunzhou prepares definitely added a unique flavor to the story. If you are a foodie who also loves cats, this may be a very good read.
Areas of Concern
While the romance is a definite draw, the execution isn't always perfect. The constant misunderstandings can become frustrating, and at times, the plot feels a little messy. Also, the detailed food descriptions, while appealing to some, might feel excessive to others, especially when they take up a significant portion of the chapter. I also found the male lead's spoiled and arrogant behavior to be a turnoff at times.

Final Verdict
"What’s Mr. Huo Eating Today?" is a novel with both strengths and weaknesses. If you're looking for a sweet, albeit somewhat flawed, BL romance with a focus on food and character healing, this might be worth a try. However, be prepared for some frustrating misunderstandings and a plot that occasionally veers into overly dramatic territory. Overall, I'd say it's a decent read if you're in the mood for something light and fluffy, but not necessarily a must-read.
