My Thoughts on What to Do at Night
What to Do at Night promised a cute and fluffy read with a healthy dose of spice, and for the most part, it delivered. This short and sweet novel definitely scratches that itch for a quick, engaging romance.
First Impressions
The premise immediately grabbed me: a determined heroine trying to corrupt her childhood friend to prevent him from joining the Holy Knights. It's a classic misunderstanding trope, but with a fun, seductive twist. I was ready for a lighthearted romp, and the initial chapters certainly leaned into that.
What Works Well
The chemistry between Ariel and Arsion is undeniable. Their interactions are genuinely heartwarming, and the author does a great job of portraying their deep-seated affection for each other. I particularly enjoyed the playful dynamic and the humor that arises from Ariel's misguided attempts at seduction. The smut, for the most part, is well-written and consensual, adding a satisfying layer of spice to the story. I also appreciated the hints of a deeper, fated connection between the two, which adds a touch of fantasy to the otherwise grounded romance.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the overall story, I do have some reservations. The biggest issue for me was the scene where the initial intimate encounter felt forced. It definitely detracted from the otherwise enjoyable reading experience. In addition, the plot, while cute, isn't particularly deep. It's a light read, and those looking for intricate world-building or complex character development might be left wanting more.

Final Verdict
Despite my reservations, I found What to Do at Night to be a fun and engaging read. It's a perfect choice if you're looking for a short, fluffy, and smutty romance to while away an afternoon. Just be aware of the potential triggers and the lack of depth before diving in. I'd recommend it with a slight caveat: proceed with caution if you're sensitive to dub-con themes. Overall, I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
