"Untamed Enemy" grabbed my attention from the start with its blend of cyberpunk, action, and, surprisingly, heart. It's a wild ride through a dystopian world, and while not perfect, it's definitely a novel that has stuck with me.

The world-building is what immediately hooked me. This isn't your run-of-the-mill sci-fi; it's a gritty, hyper-capitalistic society where the rich run rampant and the poor are crushed underfoot. The author paints a vivid picture of Silver Hammer City, a place where technology has advanced but humanity seems to have regressed. The stark contrast between the elite and the slums, the pervasive corruption, and the overall sense of hopelessness really sets the stage for a compelling story.
What Works Well
The characters are a major strength. Ning Zhuo, the MC, is a complex character, walking the line between ruthless avenger and compassionate protector. His schemes are intricate and satisfying to watch unfold. Shen Feibei, the ML, is a great match for him, and their dynamic is a highlight. Their relationship is a slow burn, filled with tension, banter, and a shared history that adds layers to their interactions.
I also appreciated the supporting cast. Each character has their own distinct personality and backstory, making them feel like real people living in this brutal world. The villains are deliciously evil, and it's incredibly satisfying to see them get their comeuppance. The plot itself is well-structured, with everything tying together neatly. Also, as much as I loved the world-building, the ending felt somewhat rushed. The escape from Silver Hammer City felt a bit too convenient.
