The initial chapters definitely hooked me, painting a vivid picture of the protagonist's past regrets and his determination to rewrite his fate. The drama unfolds quickly, with a plot driven by revenge and rekindled affection, which I found promising.
What Works Well
The early plot, detailing the protagonist's past life and his motivations for seeking marriage with the male lead, is undeniably the strongest part of the novel. I particularly enjoyed the complexities surrounding the protagonist's parentage and his complicated relationship with his biological father. The author did a commendable job portraying the protagonist's internal conflict, making his discomfort feel realistic and earned. I appreciated that the story didn't shy away from the lasting impact of past trauma, allowing for nuanced character development. I also liked the ending with the Duke's mansion where they embraced the protagonist even though he wasn't their blood relative.
Areas of Concern
While the beginning was strong, I did notice a significant shift in pacing and detail as the story progressed. After the marriage, the narrative felt rushed, with important events occurring off-screen or summarized rather than fully explored. I would have loved to see more intimate moments between the main characters, allowing their relationship to develop more organically.
