Description
Philia, born into a lineage of saints, was considered by her parents to be nothing but serious, lacking charm, and a dull child. They subjected her to rigorous training. As a result, she grew into a talented young woman who was acclaimed to possess the greatest power in generations and became engaged to Julius, the Second Prince of the kingdom. However, Julius, after meeting Philia’s younger sister Mia at a party, fell in love with her and unilaterally broke off the engagement, as he wanted to marry Mia. Moreover, so Mia would not feel awkward, he arranged to sell Philia to a neighboring kingdom lacking a saint, in exchange for gold and resources. Sensing growing numbers of demons and foreseeing calamity ahead, Philia warned against this, but Julius refused to listen. Cast out by her parents and even the King, Philia was sent to the neighboring country almost as if she were banished. While she was being hailed as a hero in the neighboring kingdom, her homeland was on the brink of collapse due to the menace of demons.

The Saint Whose Engagement Was Broken When She Became Too Perfect is Sold Off to a Neighboring Kingdom Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on The Saint Whose Engagement Was Broken When She Became Too Perfect is Sold Off to a Neighboring Kingdom
This title is a mouthful, but the story itself proved to be a surprisingly enjoyable read, especially if you're in the mood for something relatively low-stakes and easy to digest. It's a quick journey, and while it might not be the most profound story I've ever encountered, it certainly has its charms.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise. A saintess deemed too perfect? Sold off? It's a hook that definitely grabbed my attention. I found myself immediately invested in Philia's fate and eager to see how she would navigate her unfair circumstances. The early chapters were particularly engaging, and I appreciated how quickly the plot moved forward.
What Works Well
One of the strongest aspects of this novel is its focus on the protagonist's personal growth. Philia starts as someone who is perceived as "dull" due to her rigorous training and suppression of emotions. However, as she finds herself in a new environment where she's treated with respect and kindness, she begins to open up and discover her own preferences and desires. This character development is genuinely heartwarming and made me root for her success.
I also really appreciated the portrayal of Philia's sister, Mia. She's a strong and perceptive character who actively seeks justice for her sister. The sisterly bond between them is a refreshing change from the often-antagonistic relationships found in similar stories. The plot moves along nicely with the right amount of political intrigue and demon-fighting without getting bogged down.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the overall story, I did feel that the romance aspect was somewhat lacking. While the relationship between Philia and Oswald is sweet, there aren't enough scenes showcasing their interactions and deepening their connection. I wanted more moments that truly convinced me of their deep affection for each other.
Additionally, some of the villains felt a bit two-dimensional, and the conflicts, while present, didn't always carry a significant emotional weight. This made the story feel a bit too "fluffy" at times, lacking the depth that could have elevated it further.

Final Verdict
Despite its minor flaws, "The Saint Whose Engagement Was Broken When She Became Too Perfect is Sold Off to a Neighboring Kingdom" is a solid and enjoyable read. It's perfect for those seeking a lighthearted fantasy story with a strong female lead, supportive relationships, and a satisfying conclusion. While it might not be a groundbreaking masterpiece, it's a charming and comforting tale that's well worth your time, especially if you're looking for something short and sweet. I give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
