Description
Melodia was a healer and a royal knight from the Fifth Patrol Division. On the night of her 18th birthday, her beastman blood suddenly awakened and she took on the form of a wolf. Melodia, who had no inkling she was a descendant of a beastman for all 18 years of her life, was astonished. Melodia, who couldn’t use magic while she was stuck in her wolf form at night, was transferred to the Fenrir Knight Squad, the First Cavalry Division where they only had day shift. From then on, she had an unexpected encounter. To her surprise, her boss was a talking dog. Moreover, the dog, which Melodia had just met for the first time, suddenly told her. “Hm~ What an interesting girl. I will take you as my bride.” A doting ML fantasy story with DogxDog(?) couple?!

My Thoughts on The Fenrir’s Knight Unparalleled Fluffy Circumstances My New Boss is a Dog
First Impressions
Okay, let's be real, that title is a lot. But hey, I'm always up for some fluffy fantasy, especially with a hint of romance. The premise of a female knight working for a dog-like boss definitely grabbed my attention. I went in expecting lighthearted fun, maybe a touch of adventure, and a whole lot of cute moments.
What Works Well
The biggest draw for me was definitely the "dog" protagonists. The idea of a cursed duke stuck in dog form, leading a knight squad, is undeniably unique. I also appreciated the European-inspired fantasy setting and the hints of deeper lore surrounding beastkin and the Wolf Witch. The initial chapters held promise, setting up Melodia as a healer-mage-knight with a hidden beastman heritage. The dynamic between her and the canine duke had potential for some genuinely charming moments.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the story stumbled quite a bit in execution. While the premise was intriguing, the plot felt flimsy and underdeveloped. Melodia's wolf transformation, which seemed like a central plot point, ultimately had little impact on the overall narrative. I found myself waiting for it to become relevant, but it mostly served as a quirky side note.
The "Fenrir Knight Squad" also felt misleading. With only a couple of members, their activities resembled low-stakes detective work more than epic knightly quests. The Wolf Witch, hyped up as a major antagonist, felt strangely inconsequential, and the mysteries surrounding her origins and connection to the Fenrir family remained largely unexplored.
The romance, while present, lacked depth and emotional resonance. I never quite felt the connection between Melodia and the duke, despite the story's insistence on their growing affections. The duke's dog-like habits, while intended to be comedic, sometimes came across as awkward.

Final Verdict
The Fenrir’s Knight Unparalleled Fluffy Circumstances My New Boss is a Dog had the potential to be a delightful and unique fantasy romance. However, its underdeveloped plot, shallow characters, and unresolved mysteries left me feeling disappointed. It's an okay read if you're looking for something light and fluffy to pass the time, but don't expect a deeply engaging or satisfying story. I'd give it a 2.8/5.
