It's definitely a mixed bag, and while I went in hoping for a fresh take on the isekai genre, I came out with some reservations.
First Impressions
My initial reaction was cautiously optimistic. The premise, while familiar, held some potential. A former demon king wanting to understand humans? Cool! The early chapters did a decent job of setting the stage, introducing our protagonist and the world he now inhabits. However, that initial spark dimmed a bit as I progressed.
What Works Well
I will say this: the translation is solid. That's a huge plus, as a good translation can make or break a reading experience. Some aspects of the character development also shone through. There was definite potential in exploring the main character's growth and his interactions with the human world, especially his desire to understand them. The elemental magic system seemed interesting enough.

He comes across as bland, a cardboard cutout of the "overpowered but wants to be normal" trope. I struggled to connect with him, and his motivations felt thin. The "OP protagonist shows everyone up" storyline felt stale and overdone. The world-building also felt somewhat lacking. It's functional, but it doesn't draw you in or feel particularly unique. Finally, that the family does a complete 180 after a dramatic event seems a bit unrealistic.
