"Supreme Lord" promised a power fantasy with a reincarnated protagonist, and after diving in, I can see why it has a solid following. It definitely scratches that itch for a strong MC who knows more than everyone else.
First Impressions
The premise is pretty classic: a powerful expert is betrayed, dies, and is reborn, giving him a second chance to right wrongs and climb even higher. Right away, I was drawn in by the idea of seeing how this MC would navigate a world he already knew, armed with his past knowledge. The manhua adaptation piqued my interest, and I wanted to see how the source material held up.
What Works Well
The world-building seems well-thought-out. The author does a commendable job of keeping the MC's past consistent in the memories of others, which is a refreshing change from some reincarnation stories where the past gets conveniently altered. This consistency lends a sense of realism to the fantasy, making the protagonist's journey feel more grounded. I also appreciated the MC's power level. He is OP, but in a way that feels earned and justified by his previous life, avoiding the eye-rolling moments that can plague similar stories. The plot moves at a decent pace, offering enough action and intrigue to keep me invested.
Areas of Concern
While the story has its strengths, it's not without its flaws. The repetitive nature of revelations, where characters slowly catch on to the MC's true identity, can get a bit tiresome. Additionally, I found the arrogance of some of the characters, and the author's repeated emphasis on it, a bit grating at times. I could see how this might wear thin for some readers.
