Description
Ye Zichen was just a normal university student. Or so he thought. Upon a ‘chanced’ invitation into a deities’ chat group filled with deities from the Heavenly Court, Ye Zichen found out that there was much more to the world than what meets the eye. The Heavenly Court, the Underworld, and immortal cultivators which only exists in Chinese mythology… They are all real. As Ye Zichen becomes more and more involved in that world filled with unworldly beings, the wheels of destiny began to turn. What sort of destiny awaits him? Will he be able to prevent the tragedies that are to unfold? Will he be able to forge a new path; or will he succumb to wills of the greater beings that guide his life?

Red Packet Server Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on Red Packet Server
"Red Packet Server" promised a comedic romp through a world where a regular guy gets access to a deity chat group, and while it delivered some initial laughs, my overall experience was mixed. The premise had potential, but the execution left me wanting more.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the idea of a "Cultivation Chat Group"-esque story, and the translation quality seemed solid. The concept of exchanging modern goods for cultivation treasures held a certain appeal, and I was ready for a lighthearted read.
What Works Well
The early interactions between the main character (MC) and the deities were genuinely amusing. There were moments where the story seemed to strike a good balance between realism and the mystical, creating a fun, rom-com vibe. Some readers may find the easy-going nature relaxing, and the potential mysteries surrounding the MC's past could keep you intrigued.
Areas of Concern
However, as I delved deeper, some significant flaws emerged. The MC's characterization became increasingly problematic. His arrogance, coupled with a seemingly unearned sense of superiority, made him difficult to root for. The harem aspect felt forced, with shallow female characters who fall for the MC too easily.
The plot felt repetitive and lacking in depth. Mini-arcs popped up and resolved without any meaningful development, and the "face-slapping" trope became tiresome. The MC's sudden wealth and power felt contrived, turning the story into a "get rich quick" fantasy. I noticed a lack of consistency in the MC's behavior, and the plot seemed to prioritize fleeting gags over a coherent storyline.

Final Verdict
Ultimately, "Red Packet Server" falls short of its potential. While the initial premise and translation are commendable, the flawed characterization, repetitive plot, and questionable decisions make it a difficult recommendation. If you're looking for a light, mindless read, it might provide some entertainment, but be prepared for a story that prioritizes wish fulfillment over depth and consistency. I'm giving it a 2.5/5.
