My Thoughts on Queen of Flowers
"Queen of Flowers" promised a fluffy, low-angst historical romance with a mature female lead, and for the most part, it delivered. While it might not be the most groundbreaking story I've ever read, it kept me entertained, and I found myself invested in the central relationship.
First Impressions
Initially, the premise felt a bit familiar: a modern woman transmigrates to ancient China with a system, meets a charming young noble, and palace intrigue ensues. I was prepared for a fairly typical transmigration story, but I was pleasantly surprised by the characters, particularly the female lead, Yong Ruo.
What Works Well
What truly stood out for me was the characterization of Yong Ruo. She's practical, rational, and maintains her adult mindset, which is a welcome change from some of the more immature protagonists I've encountered in this genre. I appreciated that she didn't rely solely on the male lead's affections but planned for her future and her family's well-being. Her relationship with the male lead, while a bit of a whirlwind romance, felt genuine. I enjoyed their interactions and how he learns to respect her intelligence and advice. Also, I found the drama wasn't too heavy, which was a nice change of pace.
Areas of Concern
I did find some issues with the plot. The system, while interesting, felt a little underdeveloped, and I wondered if it was even necessary at all. I also felt a bit disconnected with how her powers worked, and when/how she was able to use them. The plot progression felt rushed at times, with problems being resolved too quickly and conveniently. The translation, while steady, could be clunky in certain parts, making it a bit difficult to immerse myself in the story at times. Some of the word choices felt off, and there were instances where it seemed like the translation was a bit rough.

Final Verdict
Despite some flaws in pacing and translation, "Queen of Flowers" is an enjoyable read, especially if you're looking for a lighthearted romance with a strong female lead. While it might not be a masterpiece, it offers a pleasant escape into a world of devoted love and palace intrigue. I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for something sweet and not too demanding.
